THIS SCHOLARSHIP HELPS UNDOCUMENTED STUDENTS CONTINUE ON THEIR ACADEMIC PATH

 

Eligibility:

- must be an undocumented student (DACA students are eligible)

- must be graduating and attending college for their first year

AMS Minority Scolarship

This scholarship is for minority students who have been traditionally underrepresented in the sciences, especially Hispanics, Native America, and Black/African American students. Funding for the scholarships are established through donations. 

 

Requirements:

- U.S Citizen/permanent resident

- entering their freshman year of college in 2019

- must plan to pursue a career in the atmospheric or related oceanic and hydrologic sciences. Marine biology is not eligible. 

 

Award: $6,000 for two school years ($3,000 freshman year and $3,000 sophomore year)

Alliance of Asian/Pacific Administrators

Asian / Pacific Island Asian American High School Seniors Donna Hirota, Scholarship Committee Chairperson Alliance of Asian Pacific Administrators (AAPA) Scholarships

One of the main goals of the Alliance of Asian / Pacific Administrators is to provide financial assistance to deserving Asian / Pacific Island seniors who wish to further their career goals through post high school education. This can include, but is not limited to, a two-year junior college or a state accredited private trade school. This year, AAPA is offering scholarships of $2,000.00 each. Applicants are advised to carefully read and follow the application procedures listed below:

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION:

-  Is of Asian / Pacific Island Asian ancestry o Will be a graduating senior of the Los Angeles Unified School District in

June 2019

-  Has maintained at least a 2.5 grade point average or better with evidence

of good character, citizenship, and school/community service

The Horatio Alger Scholarship

RECEIVE UP TO $25,000 FOR COLLEGE !

Requirements:

  • full-time high school senior in the U.S. with plans to enter college no later than in the Fall semester following graduation

  • exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor's degree at an accredited non-profit or private institution in the U.S. (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution)

  • demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required)

  • minimum of a 2.0 GPA

  • be a U.S. citizen

2019 CIF Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award

This prestigious program recognizes two student-athletes based on excellence in athletics, academics, and character. One male and one female statewide winner will each receive $5,000 as well as a visit to the State Capitol in Sacramento where they will be honored in front of the State assembly and legislature. 

Qualifications: 

College-bound high school seniors whose academics and athletic careers have been truly exemplary and whose personal standards and accomplishments are a positive model foe others. 

Deadline: Monday, February 11, 2019 (winners will be notified in late April 2019)

Requirements:

  • 3.5 GPA or higher (unweighted)

  • have demonstrated superior athletic ability in at least the last two years of varsity play within California

  • have displayed themselves as athletes of character displaying trustworthiness, respect, responsibility,   fairness, caring, community service and citizenship 

McDonald's HACER National Scolarship

Requirements:

  • Be a high school senior

  • Be a legal U.S. resident

  • Be younger than 21 years old

  • Carry a minimum 3.0 GPA

  • Be eligible to attend a two- or four-year college or university with a full-time course of study

  • Disclose other scholarship programs that he/she has applied

  • Must enroll and attend an accredited institution in the academic year after their selection. Verification needed as scholarship funds are paid directly to the schools

  • At least one parent of Hispanic heritage

Award: $5,000-$100,000

Burger King Foundation

Applicants must-

  • Be living in the United States, Canada or Puerto Rico

  • Be graduating high school seniors (U.S. and Puerto Rico), graduating from grade 12 (Canada) or graduating from home school education in the U.S., Puerto Rico or Canada

  • Have a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent

  • Plan to enroll full-time, without interruption, for the entire 2018-19 academic year at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school in the U.S., Canada or Puerto Rico

Coca Cola Scholarship

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. With the 30th class in 2018, the Foundation has provided over 6,000 Coca-Cola Scholars with more than $66 million in educational support. 150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship.

South Gate Commissions Office Scholarship

The South Gate Community Scholarship Fund is an extension of the non-profit Commission for South Gate Youth established in 1989.  The Fund was established for the purpose of providing scholarships to high school seniors, who are residents of the City of South Gate, in pursuit of post-secondary education and training.  The scholarships may also be awarded to adult residents of the community.

 

ELIGIBILITIES:

Applicant must be-

! A bona fide resident of the City of South Gate.  

DEADLINE: May 7, 2019 

! Attending an undergraduate course of study in the Fall at an accredited two or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school.

 

This includes high school graduates and students currently enrolled in an undergraduate course of study and have one or more years of school remaining.

Salazar Journalism Scholarship

Ruben Salazar was a journalist for the Los Angeles Times. He was killed in 1970 while covering the National Chicano Moratorium Against the War in Vietnam and the ensuing riot through the streets of East Los Angeles. In 1971, UTLA’s East Area initiated a scholarship fund in his memory. It is now sponsored by UTLA’s East and North Areas. This is the 46th year that UTLA awards scholarships to Graduating Seniors enrolled at any LAUSD High School, Continuation School, or High School Completion Program conducted in an LAUSD Community Adult School.

Boundless American Dream Scholarship

$1,500

  • The Boundless American Dream Scholarship will provide financial support to exceptionally promising students who fulfill the requirements of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) or Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and who want to make the world a better place through technology.

  • Boundless will provide $1,500 to improve the student’s ability to design and build technology that solves real problems, based on the student’s own vision and needs (including but not limited to support for college/university/graduate studies tuition, attending a coding boot camp, taking an online course, attending a professional conference, or building an early-stage prototype product for a startup idea).

  • The law firm of Fenwick & West has also agreed to match us, offering an additional $1,500 to a second student!

  • The 2019 Boundless American Dream Scholars will be selected for their academic excellence, entrepreneurial spirit, and dedication to community service.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund

Description

The HSF Scholarship is designed to assist students of Hispanic heritage obtain a college degree. Scholarships are available, on a competitive basis, to:

  • High school seniors

  • Undergraduate students (all years)

  • Community collge students transferring to four year universities

  • Graduate Students

Award

Awards are based on merit; amounts range from $500 to $5,000, based on relative need, among the Scholars selected.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be of Hispanic Heritage

  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for High School Students

META Scholarships 2019

Varies

Platinum Scholarship:  This scholarship provides up to $6,000, payable over four years, to entering college freshmen attending four-year colleges and universities.

 

Gold Scholarship:  This scholarship provides up to $2,000, payable over four years, to either four-year college or university students or to community college students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution at a later date.

 

Requirements
1. Must be applying, accepted or enrolled at an accredited institution of higher education as a full-time undergraduate student pursuing an academic discipline. 
2. Students enrolled in community or junior colleges are also eligible to apply provided they intend to enroll in and obtain a bachelor degree from a four-year accredited institution. 
3. Must have a 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing. 
4. Must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident of Hispanic origin 
5. Must have attended high school in Southern California 
6. Preference is given to students who have demonstrated leadership or mentoring qualities through their record of involvement and participation in civic activities in school or in their communities.

Davis-putter Scholarship

Description: The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund aids people active in movements for social and economic justice. These need-based scholarships are awarded to students who are able to do academic work at the college or university level or are enrolled in a trade or technical program and who are active in the progressive movement. Applicants must have participated in activities in the US, and there is a strong preference for applicants who plan on working in this country. Applicants will need personal statement and letters of recommendation and financial information. Must turn in transcripts and proof of FAFSA.

Asian Pacific Fund Scholarship Programs

The Asian Pacific Fund administers 13 scholarship programs to help undergraduate and graduate students achieve their education goals.

NSHSS Foundation STEM Scholarship

The NSHSS Foundation STEM Scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors. You must plan to enter a college to study in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics field. You must have at least a 3.0 GPA to be eligible for this award.
